Wellywood Camp!

Monday: I don't usually get up at 4:30 but today was different. I got up, got ready and drove to the train station. About 20 minutes later, the train was leaving the station and we were on our way to Picton! The train ride took 5 and a half hours and my favourite memory from that was standing in the open carriage with my friends.

When we got to Picton, we found a playground and played around. We had to wait an hour for the ferry, then we boarded. The boring ferry ride took 3 and a half hours and then we arrived in Wellywood!

We took some shuttles to the YHA, where we unpacked and made our beds. Then it was PIZZA TIME! 

So we were in Wellywood for 5 days and it was the greatest camp I've ever been on, (because my Dad was there). It was a very enjoyable time. My favourite memory of camp was climbing on a rock wall that was a vertical wall that was on a backward lean, so it took a lot of upper body strength. 

I suggest if you are reading this and you are in primary school that your class should go to Wellywood, (that is Wellington for those of you not in NZ). Here are some great photos from my time on camp:

My Genuis Hour Project (The Rugby World Cup History)

Our class have been doing Passion Projects. I chose the Rugby World Cup as my topic because I love rugby, so it was perfect. Rugby is interesting to learn about and is an important part of New Zealand's identity, it brings people together and is always a great atmosphere.

It felt like'07 had been recovered. It was 2015, the Rugby World Cup quarter final, New Zealand vs France. The last quarter final they met New Zealand was robbed of a victory and were sent packing. But this time it was different. New Zealand were very near peaking and the French didn't look any good. From the start of the game New Zealand looked sensational. Thier team work was awsome! Dan Carter was slotting the hard penalties. All up if New Zealand play like that for the rest of the Rugby World Cup they should win very easily.

Greg lived an normal life and had a normal car and a normal apartment. One day that all changed. One day when Greg was driving to his normal job he saw a signing 'Buy lotto ticks and win a Billion dollars.' So the next day he made a pit stop to lotto. 3 days later he was a billionare. He was spending his money rapidly. He was at the warehouse and the snake gang come up to him and smashed he and stole everything. To this day he is hunting that gang and this is what he looks like now.

Alcohol - Binge Drinking - Why Is It A Problem?

I wrote a persuasive speech in class, entitled 'Alcohol - The Killer'. I chose this topic because binge drinking is a big problem in New Zealand and in several countries around the world. I made it through to the Ellesmere Cluster Speech Competition and did well. Then we had a school speech competition and I won the Year 8 category! Hopefully you watch this and think about the impact it has. Enjoy!

My Digiaward

This is our video we made for the DigiAward. The DigiAwards are a competition that is for Years 1-8 and you can enter in all sorts of categories. We chose movie making and had to make it about an everyday hero. It took us awhile  to choose our hero but then we chose the recycling bin because it helps and doesn't go into the landfill. We found at the start the storyline was hard to construct. If I did it again I would choose a different hero. I hope you enjoy watching.

Skiing at Mt Hutt

On Friday the 28th of August Yaldhurst School went up the mountain to Mt Hutt. We had to meet at school at 7am!

The bus left at precisely 7:15; about 2 hours later halfway up the mountain the bus broke down. I had to go with my friend Josh in his car the rest of the way. The others got another bus up. 

When we were finally all up at Mt Hutt we got our gear on and got our skiis. So then we had a one and half hour lessons with the Mt Hutt instructors. After that we could ski by ourselves or with friends till 4 o'clock.

So at 4 o'clock we all met up and handed the gear in and got on bus #2 and went home. All up it was a great day. I found Summit Six challenging because it was icy and steep. The funniest thing that happened was Josh going down a hill, turned too hard and smashed into the snow and he also lost a ski!

Weedons Challenge

On Wednesday the 12th of August, Yaldhurst and their Friday sport teams went to play our rivals, Weedons at Weedons Primary. The hockey team had the best result, 3-3 but we lost everything else. It was still a great day!

Manual Update

Yesterday, on Thursday 23rd June, we returned to our third term of Manual at Lincoln Primary. This term I am in Science and my teacher is Mr. Roozen. For the first part of the session we talked about science and for the second part we did a fair test of which gum would ave the longest lasting flavour the top one was extra active spearmint with a time of 394 second of flavour and the bottom was juicy fruit with a time of 125 seconds. I had fun in my first science day.

100WC #Week 35

I hate telling this story but I must. On June the 5th 1994 my friend and I went outside. John said

"I bought these." Then I saw a bag with a few cigarettes in it.

" I don't think we should try them" I said

"Chicken," I grabbed one of the horrible things and lit it. When I inhaled it I thought it would be good  but it made my tongue tingle. It was yuck. Later in the year I was having 20 a day. A year later I was in the emergency room having surgery. I almost died. Don't Smoke!

One day I ordered a fat turkey from turkey. It took 1 second to arrive. I Went to front door of the house I said to myself " I love teloportan." When I open the door I saw a massive box that couldn't be right so ask my wife to come down stairs from her sleep I said 
"Open this box" So as she lifted the lid off I saw a monkey he attacked my wife and so I went to my shotgun but I only had one shot. In the end I shot my wife and the monkey became president.

"Bill, Bill i've got a biggy Must be 10 pound, yummy dinner tonight" Said Sam.

Bill and Sam had gone fishing for a day it was Sam's first time fishing and he was loving pulling the fish up. When Sam finish pulling it up he saw a beautiful looking fish. When Bill saw it he said

“Chuck it back can't eat those they're protected. So they did

"Lets go back I have caught 10 snapper." As Bill started up the engine Sam said

" I thought there was be a ferocious wind." But the ferocious wind did come in the end!

What Does it Mean To Be Heathly To Me

To be heathly I think you have a heathly mind most impromently because you can't be happy or strong without a healthy mind. Also you have eat heathly but you can't just be a health freak. To me if you only eat little bit of veagys and fruit thats just weird and unhealthly. Get a great sleep or you will be angry and it's not healthly for your brain. Be safe and be happy.
